Play reading
Is there anybody out there who is interested in meeting to read plays? I am a trained but out-of-the-loop actress who would like to get back in the habit of reading and discover new and unknown (to me) works.
If you are keen, please let me know and I’ll start putting this into practise eg sorting venues, titles etc.
Any suggestions will be gratefully recieved.
Here’s hoping, Phoebe Flint

Sounds like a great idea. I’m in the same position and want to get back into things, doing readings, practising monologues and finding some workshops. Do keep in touch with what transpires.. thanks!

Thanks for the response! There is no great rush to get this thing off the ground but of course I’d like to get it up and running asap. If you know of another (free) way to advertise this idea, be my guest, or let me know and I’ll get onto it.
Phoebe
Hi Phoebe, Lizz, if you haven’t already I’d definitely recommend getting in touch with Alison Comley or Ann Stiddard of Theatre West (http://www.theatrebristol.net/directory/theatre-west) who are just finishing their annual season of new writing at the Alma Tavern and Sheila Hannon or Gill Loats at Show of Strength (showofstrength.org.uk).
Hi,
Much the same position, and would just love to be of something creative !

Bristol Central Library has a good stock of plays in reading sets, and they are continually updated with new publications, but the catalogue is very out of date (last updated about 2004) It costs a little bit to join the reading service, (cannot remember exactly, but less than 20 quid) I approached the library with a similar idea, to read the plays aloud for interested parties (writers, directors, drama students etc) but they cannot support anything on site at present. But that’s not to stop it happening if you can find an alternative venue. Let me know how you get on and keep me in the loop. Anna
